Habbo (previously known as Habbo Hotel) is a social networking website aimed at teenagers. The website is owned and operated by Sulake Corporation. The service began in 2000 and has expanded to include 32 online communities (or “hotels”).
The community welcomes several international guests. Armin van Buuren visited the online Habbo Hotel on June 6th, 2008 for the first virtual DJ performance. The performance was sponsored by Dutch bank Postbank.
Dancefoundation was responsible for the online production of the event, including a live streaming web radio- and video broadcast.
